Tahya “Ty” Fuenmayor was born in Venezuela and immigrated to this great country when she was ten years old. As a young girl, she lived with her mom and attended schools throughout Miami-Dade County including Coral Gables Senior High from where she graduated.
Ty obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in three and half years from Florida State University where she was awarded academic scholarships. To help pay some of her tuition, she worked for an attorney, and became enamored with law.
Determined to pursue a legal career, she returned home to Miami and attended law school at St. Thomas University School of Law. As the youngest member of her class, at twenty-three years old, Ty took the Florida BAR and has been practicing ever since.
After twenty years as an attorney, Ty has gained valuable insight and knowledge from representing clients in a variety of cases ranging from domestic violence, civil disputes, family disputes, and other matters. Considering her vast experience and ultimate desire to serve the Miami-Dade County community, Ty has decided to run for Miami Dade County Judge.
When Ty’s not busy litigating her cases, she enjoys supporting her twin girls’ love of dance, practicing yoga and paddle-boarding. Ty’s family fuels her motivation to make a difference in our community.
